Protect your PPS password
 
DOs
  • Select a strong password that is hard to guess.
  • Create your PPS Internet password with a combination of numbers and letters. Avoid using repetitive or consecutive digits in your PPS Internet password.
  • Change your password on a regular basis and do not re-use your precious password.
  • Disable your browser's 'AutoFill' function that remembers the data (including your passwords) that you input. You may refer to your browser's 'Help' function for details.
  • If you suspect that your PPS Phone/Internet password has become known by someone else, you should change it immediately.
  • Contact PPS Customer Service immediately if you suspect any unusual or unauthorized access to your PPS account.
Don’ts
  • Associate your PPS password with anything personal such as your Login ID, birth dates, names, phone numbers or other familiar words.
  • Use those login ID and passwords that have been used in other Internet services as PPS Account Name and PPS Internet password.
  • Share the password with anyone, or tell anyone about your password.
  • Write down your password or store your password in your computer. It will be exposed for others to read and use your password.
   

Protect your PPS transaction details

 
DOs
  • Always type http://www.ppshk.com into your browser address bar or use Favorites/bookmarks to access our website.
  • Check the last login time-stamp each time when you login on PPS internet / PPS mobile app.
  • Check your transaction history/bank statement regularly. If you find any suspicious PPS transaction which was not performed by you, contact your bank or PPS Customer Service immediately.
  • Check your bill registration details in your PPS account regularly and cancel the unnecessary bill registration.
  • Always check carefully all payment details before you confirm your transactions.
  • Always logoff after using PPS Internet / PPS mobile app by clicking the logout tab to ensure the PPS session is ended securely.
  • If there are any suspicious transactions, please report to PPS Customer Service immediately.
  • If you find any fraudulent PPS website, do not input any personal data and contact us immediately.
Don’ts
  • Use PPS by Internet from a public/shared computer, eg. Internet Cafes.
  • Access PPS website from hyperlinks embedded in emails, suspicious pop-up windows or any other doubtful channels.
  • Disclose your personal information (including your bill details) to unauthorized third parties in order to protect your privacy.
   

Protect your mobile phone device

 
DOs
  • Install and update the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware software regularly on your mobile handsets, whenever available.
  • Set up auto-lock and passcode lock to prevent unauthorized access to your smartphone.
  • Install application on your mobile handsets only from a trusted source. Understand the permissions of mobile applications before you install them. Do not use untrusted custom virtual keyboards.
  • Install updates and patches to your smartphone regularly, including upgrades/updates to your OS and other mobile applications. Enable data encryption on your handset if possible.
  • Ensure your smartphone is switched on with satisfactory connection status and sufficient memory to receive SMS when receiving one-time password for two-factor authentication.
  • Please verify the details carefully in the SMS before input the OTP in PPS website.
  • Well manage the SMS in your smartphone.
  • When using Wi-Fi, only use trusted Wi-Fi networks or service providers and enable security protection such as Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), if possible.
  • Always log off properly when you are finished using PPS services.
Don’ts
  • Use any jailbroken handsets or tablets which may have security loopholes, PPS mobile app does not run on jailbroken/ rooted devices.
  • Share your device with others. Use your own smartphone to log on to PPS mobile app.
  • Store your personal information on your mobile handset. E.g. PPS account number/account name or password.
  • Leave your smartphone unattended after logging on to PPS mobile app and prevent it from thefts.
  • Lend your smartphone to others.
  • Redirect your SMS or mobile calls to other smartphone number or other settings (e.g. email account), when receiving one-time password for two-factor authentication.
   

Protect your computer

 
DOs
  • Install and run anti-spyware program in your computer and update the signature file regularly to ensure a real time protection is on. The common threats are Trojan Horse and Spyware. You may visit the publisherˇ¦s website to check the latest information of the virus protection software.
  • Set up auto-lock and passcode lock to prevent unauthorized access to your computer.
  • Use personal firewall in your computer to filter out malicious traffics that try to reach your computer over the Internet.
  • Refer to your computer service providers for details of anti-spyware, anti-virus and personal firewall software.
  • Perform periodic virus scanning on your computer. Enable data encryption on your computer if possible.
  • Always disconnect after you finish using the Internet.
  • Install updates and patches to your computer regularly, including upgrades/updates to your OS.

Don’ts
  • Open an email attachment that contains a file ending with .exe, .pif, or .vbs as these file types are commonly identified with viruses.
  • Use any jailbroken handsets or tablets which may have security loopholes to log on to PPS website.
  • Respond to any phone or email enquiries regarding your personal information (e.g. card expiry date, ATM PIN Number, HKID number, PPS password, etc.).
  • Share computers with others. If it is necessary to do so, limit their access privilege to restricted folders or drives.
  • Use the ˇ§sharingˇ¨ function in the computer. This may enable unauthorized access to your computer to retrieve your personal information. If it is necessary to do so, set user name and password on the share folders.
  • Install document sharing software in your computer.
  • Use illegal / unlicensed software.
  • Download files / software from unknown source.
  • Store your personal information on your computer (e.g. PPS account number/account name and/or password).
  • Leave your computer unattended after logging on to PPS internet and prevent it from thefts.
